Bayer Leverkusen missed the chance to move second on the log after they were held to a goalless draw by Hertha Berlin at Bay Arena.
There were not too many chances in the game, with Dodi Lukebakio denied an early opener for Hertha by goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky while Lars Bender almost snatched the winner in stoppage time for Leverkusen but his header missed the post by a whisker.
The hosts moved up to third on the log , three points behind leaders Bayern Munich while Hertha moved up to 13th with eight points from the same number of matches.
Leverkusen will next be in action when they visit Nice in their penultimate group match of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday while Hertha will host Union Berlin in a league clash on Friday evening.
Ten-man Hoffenheim's winless run extended to seven matches after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Mainz at Opel Arena.
Robin Quaison broke the deadlock for Mainz in the 33rd minute but Ihlas Bebou levelled matters for the visitors just after the hour-mark.
Hoffenheim were reduced to ten men in the last ten minutes after Dennis Geiger was red-carded for a dangerous tackle.
Mainz remained third from bottom with five points from nine matches while Hoffenheim moved up to 12th with nine points from as many matches.
Mainz will be in action again next Saturday afternoon when they visit Arminia Bielefeld while Hoffenheim will be in UEFA Europa League action on Thursday in the penultimate match of the group away to Red Star Belgrade.
