Borussia Monchengladbach missed the chance to reclaim top spot in the Bundesliga after falling to a loss 2-1 to Wolfsbug at Volkswagen Arena.
Xaver Schlager got the opener for the hosts in he 13th minute but Breel Embolo quickly levelled matters for Monchengladbach two minutes later.
However, it was the home side who left it late as Maximilian Arnold snatched the winner in second-half stoppage time.
Wolfsburg moved up to eighth on the table with 23 points, while Monchengladbach remained second with 31 points, both after 15 rounds of matches.
Ten-man Schalke jumped up to fourth on the table after edging Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 at Veltins Arena on Sunday eveing.
After a score-less first stanza, Benito Raman broke the deadlock for the hosts eight minutes inside the second stanza but Schalke finished the game with ten men after Alexander Nubel was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after 66 minutes.
Despite playing with a man short in the last 27 minutes, David Wagner's troops held on to clinch the three points that saw them leapfrog Bayern Munich into fourth place, while Eintracht dropped down to 12th position.
