Leon Bailey has been in impressive form for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season, scoring five goals and assisting another four strikes in 12 appearances.
He recently became a father and named his son Leo Cristiano, but has insisted the name is not linked to the two superstars.
"It has nothing to do with football, but with me and my name," he told BILD.
"Leo is an abbreviation of Leon. And Leo is the lion – I am a lion.
"I believe that my son also grows up with the mentality of being a fighter and a leader. And Cristiano is a lovely name that goes well with Leo.
"Being a father changed me in many ways as a person, but not the way I play football. However, my son motivates me to work even harder."
Leverkusen are one of the two unbeaten teams in the Bundesliga this campaign – the other being VfL Wolfsburg – and are third on the log, just three points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
