The Bundesliga is ready to become the first major European league to return to the pitch amid the coronavirus pandemic after league officials proposed a date for fixtures to recommence, pending government approval.
On Thursday, Bundesliga executives proposed for professional football in Germany to return on 9 May with the agreement of the 36 clubs in Germany's two top divisions, subject to final approval by the national government.
Other precautions, such as the banning of pre-match handshakes and photographs, and the instruction for players to wash their own matchday kits, will also reportedly be followed.
