Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to ten points after edging Hertha Berlin 1-0 on Friday evening.
Bavarians manager Hanis Flick made three changes from their thumping win over Hoffenheim, with Lucas Hernandez, Niklas Sule and Leroy Sane returning to the side.
It was end-to-end attacks from the first whistle and the Bavarians should have went ahead in the 11th minute after Sane won a penalty but Rune Jarstein redeemed himself by saving Robert Lewandowski's spot-kick.
Kingsley Coman eventually opened the scoring for the visitors in the 21st minute with a strike from the edge of the box that took a wicked deflection and looped over the stranded Jarstein.
Hertha almost equalised on the stroke of half-time as shot-stopper Manuel Neuer did well to keep out Dodi Lukebakio's deflected free-kick before Coman missed a big chance moments later after Sane's cut-back over the bar from close range.
Three Bayern Munich stars were included in the 2020 FIFPro World XI:
Serge Gnabry almost gave Bayern a perfect start four minutes inside the second stanza after making a surging run and unleased a strike from the edge of the box that produced an equally brilliant save from Jarstein.
With the game still on the edge and open in the last 20 minutes, neither side was took the their chances in the final third as Flick made a double change, bringing on Douglas Costa and Corentin Tolisso in of place Sane and Gnabry in a strangely defensive switch.
However, the hosts did manage to fashion some chances but were unable to bury them as the Bavarians held on in the end to clinch a narrow win that extended their lead at the top of the log to ten points.
