Bundesliga Report: Eintracht Frankfurt v Fortuna Dusseldorf 19 October 2018

Bundesliga

Result: Eintracht Frankfurt 7-1 Fortuna Dusseldorf

Date: 19 October 2018

Venue: Commerzbank-Arena

Luka Jovic bagged five goals to inspire Eintracht Frankfurt to a 7-1 thumping of Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga on Friday evening.

The home side came into the clash on the back of two successive victories before the international break, while Dusselfdorf failed to win their last four matches.

Frankfurt, however, were without the services of suspended star forward Ante Rebic, who has netted three goals in four starts this season.

The match sprung into life after 19 minutes when the hosts were awarded a penalty after a review from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for handball.

Sebastian Haller stepped up and converted the spot-kick to put Frankfurt in the lead with his fourth goal of the campaign.

Seven minutes later, the lead was doubled as Luka Jovic found the back of the net with an impressive strike that left the Dussefldorf shot-stopper with no chance.

It was 3-0 ten minutes before the halftime break, with Jovic completing his brace with another cracking strike from distance.

Frankfurt picked up from where they left off in the first half, as Haller bagged his second and his side's fourth with a cheeky finish in the 50th minute.

Dodi Lukebakio thought he had provided some hope for Dusseldorf when he found the back of the net back after 54 minutes, but Jovic extinguished those hopes by completing his hat-trick a minute later to make it 5-1.

With 20 minute to go, Jovic added to his tally on the night to make it 6-1 for the home side, as Dusseldorf looked dead and buried.

The German striker was not done there, netting his fifth and Frankfurt's seventh on the night in the 72nd minute.

That proved to be the final goal of the half as Frankfurt racked up a third successive league victory, emphatically so.
