Bundesliga Report: Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund 23 April 2022

Bayern Munich have secured their 10th successive Bundesliga title after defeating rivals Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in Der Klassiker onS Saturday night.

Result: Bayern Munich 3-1 Borussia Dortmund

Date: 23 April 2022

Venue: Allianz Arena

Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry all started behind Robert Lewandowski, as Leory Sane had to settle for a spot in the bench once again.

The Bavarians got off to the perfect start after Gnarby opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a powerful strike past goalkeeper Marwin Hitz after being set up by Leon Goretzka.

Gnabry went on to make double his and Bayern's tally in the 29th minute with close-range, however the strike was ruled out after the Video Assistant Referee spotted an offside in the build-up.

However, the hosts would not be denied five minutes later as former Dortmund star Lewandowski doubled the lead with his 33rd goal of the league campaign.

Dortmund, meanwhile, were second fiddle for most of the first half and they were lucky not to have fallen further behind before the break when Lewandowski's long-range strike sailed inches wide of the upright.

However, that changed in the second half as Dortmund got themselves back in the contest on 52 minutes when Emre Can converted a penalty for Joshua Kimmich's foul on Marco Reus.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann responded with his first change after the hour mark, with Gnabry making way for Jamal Musiala before Dortmund threw on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens for Reinier moments later.

However, any hopes of a comeback for Dortmund were ended in the 83rd minute after Musiala bagged Bayern's third goal which officially wrapped up the title with three games to spare.
