Borussia Dortmund's newest signing has been forced to leave the club's pre-season training camp after he was diagnosed with a testicular tumour.
Striker Sebastien Haller has been forced to return to Germany from BVB's training camp in Switzerland after medical staff found a testicular tumour in the forward.
According to an official statement put out by the club, the French-born striker complained about feeling sickly on Monday. The Ivory Coast international then underwent medical examinations, which was when the tumour was found.
The 28-year-old has since returned to Germany for further tests in a highly specialised medical centre.
"This news today came as a shock to Sebastien Haller and to all of us," BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl said, as per the club's official website.
"The entire BVB family wishes Sebastien a full recovery as soon as possible and that we can hug him again soon.
"We will do everything in our power to ensure that he receives the best possible treatment."
Haller was signed earlier on in the window from Ajax Amsterdam with the hopes that the west African would be an adequate replacement for the outgoing Erling Haaland. Now the forward's health will take priority, with his debut for the eight-time Bundesliga champions set to be delayed.
