The latest reports in Germany suggest that Borussia Dortmund have as many as eight stars, including two of their highest earners, on their axe list.

Despite the return of football, many clubs will be feeling the financial consequences of the coronavirus crisis and will likely look for ways to cut costs.
Borussia Dortmund are no different, and Sport Bild has claimed the technical team around coach Lucien Favre and sport director Michael Zorc are looking to offload as many as eight players.

Defenders Nico Schulz and Manuel Akanji are said to be high on the club's transfer list after failing to live up to expectations at Signal Iduna Park. In addition, Mario Gotze, who is one of the team's top earners with an annual salary of €10 million (R204 million), is set to leave when his contract expires in June.
Andre Schurrle is another high earner at BVB, reportedly pocketing €7 million (R143 million) a year, although he is currently on loan at Spartak Moscow. However, the Russian side has already confirmed they will not buy the Germany international, whose contract at BVB could be terminated.

Dortmund are currently in second place in the Bundesliga, four points behind table-toppers Bayern Munich, with the two clubs set to face each other once more before the season ends.
