On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Haaland will depart the German club and join Manchester City next season.
The 2011/12 Bundesliga champions have, however, wasted no time in finding an heir to the Norwegian's throne at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Germany international Karim Adeyemi from Red Bull Salzburg in a deal worth a reported €38 million (R643 million).
The 20-year-old reportedly turned down a host of clubs, including Manchester United, to make the move to the Westfalenstadion.
The forward will return to his homeland off the back of an immensely impressive season for the Austrian Bundesliga club, during which he has scored 23 goals in 42 matches across all competitions.
His performances also earned him a spot in Germany's senior team for the first time in September 2021, with the starlet scoring on his debut, a 6-0 win over Armenia in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Dortmund have signed the German striker on a five-year deal after securing the services of Bayern Munich's Niklas Sule earlier in the season, as well as Freiburg's Nico Schlotterbeck recently.
Speaking about the move, Adeyemi told Dortmund's official website: "As a little boy, I was fascinated by black and yellow fast-paced football. That's why it quickly became clear to me that I would like to switch to BVB when I found out about Dortmund's interest.
"I deliberately signed for the long term because I'm convinced that we'll be an exciting team that, with the support of the fantastic Dortmund fans, will be able to play for and win titles in the medium term."
