Bayern Munich Star Demands Exit

Renato Sanches

Bayern Munich recently completed a deal to sign Philippe Coutinho on loan from FC Barcelona, but the Bundesliga giants could lose one of their midfield stars after the player demanded to leave.

On Friday, the reigning Bundesliga champions kicked their 2019/20 campaign off with a disappointing 2-2 draw with Hertha BSC.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice for the Bavarian giants but a two-minute salvo from Marko Grujic and Dodi Lukebakio was enough to earn Hertha a share of the spoils.

Renato Sanches was brought on as an 85th minute substitute as Bayern looked to claim all three points, but the young midfielder was unable to turn the tie in his side's favour.

"Five minutes is not enough. The situation is not good for me, this is the second time I have wanted to leave the club and they have not let me go," Sanches told Sport1.

The 22-year-old made just four starts last season after previously spending time on loan at Swansea, and has failed to replicate the form that saw him win the Golden Boy award in 2016.

Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has slammed Sanches' comments, however, and stressed that the player would not be sold this season.

"It is not appropriate that you run away so angry here after the first or second game," Rummenigge said.

"We will not sell him, that will not work, he would do well to calm down."

Sanches joined Bayern from Benfica in 2016 for €35 million (R595 million), and has scored two goals in 53 appearances for the club since.
