Lahm, who was widely regarded as one of the best right-backs during his playing career, enjoyed a trophy-laden career with Bayern and Germany.
The fullback eventually called time on his career at the age of 34, having won nearly every trophy available, the only exception being the European Championship.
Lahm has now revealed that he turned the chance to join Barcelona in favour of claiming success with his home team.

"Barcelona, who back then were the benchmark in European football, wanted to bring me to Spain. The offer was attractive," he was quoted as saying by
Yahoo Sports.
"Even my close friends that knew about the offer slapped on my shoulder and said: 'Cool, Philipp. When will you sign?'
"But there was a problem, it was me. I admire Barcelona and their players but I didn't see myself at the Camp Nou.
"Back then, I played in a Bayern team that was building to something. I knew that our team would be able to achieve something great.
"And I thought about how happy I would be if I would win the Champions League with my hometown club Bayern Munich over doing it with Barcelona. I rejected Barcelona."
