Bayern Munich have responded to the reports claiming Cristiano Ronaldo could replace Robert Lewandowski, who is off to Barcelona.
The Bundesliga champions confirmed that a deal has been reached for the sale of Lewandowski to the Catalan giants.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, reportedly wants to leave United for a team competing for trophies and playing in the UEFA Champions League.
The Bavarians were one of the sides linked with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, but Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic says they are not interested.
"I have a lot of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, his successes and his career," Salihamidzic told Sport1.
"But again, that wasn't and isn't an issue for us."
While there are no plans to sign Ronaldo, Bayern CEO Oliver Khan has confirmed they trying to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
"We talked. The player wants to come to Bayern Munich," he told Bayerischer Rundfunk .
"We'll have more talks and then we'll see how things go. I'm very careful about making any predictions."
