With Manchester City looking to bolster their squad after being outrun by Liverpool in the Premier League this season, reports suggest that they have an eye on one of Bayern Munich's star defenders.
David Alaba has just one more year left on his current contract with the German giants, which has resulted in the player being linked with a move to England.
However, Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is fairly confident of agreeing a new deal with the player.
Speaking on the matter, the Daily Star quoted Rummenigge as saying, "With Alaba, I am cautiously optimistic we will find a solution."
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic also touched on the topic earlier this month, when he told Sky Sports that talks had been going well.
Other reports claim that Bayern have been stalling regarding Alaba's wage demands, with the player said to be looking for £18 million (R410 million) a year.
Negotiations with the Austria international are expected to continue until the Bavarians' 2019/20 UEFA Champions League campaign is over.
