The Paris Saint-Germain superstar was recently asked who he thought has a chance of winning the coveted Ballon d'Or, which will be handed out by France Football later this year, and he opted against selecting Modric, despite the Real Madrid midfielder having already claimed both FIFA and UEFA's main prizes this year.
"I would say (Cristiano) Ronaldo, (Lionel) Messi and (Kylian) Mbappe," he told AS.
If he is right, it would be the first time since 2004 that there would be a different winner of the Ballon d'Or and FIFA's The Best Men's Player award, which was previously known as the FIFA World Footballer of the Year prize. Back then, Andriy Shevchenko won the Ballon d'Or, while Ronaldinho won FIFA's equivalent.

The 2018 Ballon d'Or will be handed out in December, and it remains to be seen whether or not Modric can complete his personal awards hat-trick.
Both Messi and Ronaldo have won the prestigious Golden Ball five times, with the Portuguese lifting it in four out of the past five years.
