The 19-year-old, who was named the Young Player of the Tournament at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, recently had an exclusive interview with France Football.

The French publication gives out the prestigious Ballon d'Or award once a year, and Mbappe was asked who his favourites for the 2018 edition are.

He listed last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo along with his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar, World Cup Golden Ball winner Luka Modric and his France colleague Raphael Varane, before naming himself.

"To complete it, I think I would put myself, too," he told France Football.

However, there was no space for Messi, who has won the award five times.

In addition, Mbappe also snubbed France teammate Antoine Griezmann despite his heroics at the World Cup, after which he claimed the Silver Boot and the Bronze Ball, while he also lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy with Atletico Madrid.
