In what is the 33rd year of the IFFHS Awards, which was first launched in 1987, the organisation announced its annual World Team of the Year on Monday.
The final selection was determined after select journalists and football historians from the IFFHS' 150 member countries cast their vote for the players they felt deserved to be in the team.
Following Bayern Munich's incredible 2020, which saw them lift five trophies, including a historic treble, it will not surprise many that the Bavarians have four of their current players in the team, while Thiago Alcantara, who left the Bundesliga giants to join Liverpool in September, also made the XI.
Manuel Neuer was selected in goal, Alphonso Davies in defense, Joshua Kimmich in midfielder and Robert Lewandowski up front.
The Reds follow with two representatives, namely Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, while Salah and Mane were snubbed despite their roles in Liverpool's first league title triumph since 1990.
Sergio Ramos, Kevin de Bruyne, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo make up the rest of the team.
