Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted his The Best FIFA Men's Player award does not mark the end of the "Lionel Messi era".
Neymar Comments On Ronaldo Winning FIFA's Best Player Award
The Portuguese won his fifth FIFA World Best Player prize in London on Monday night, beating Messi and Neymar to the award.
After winning the accolade, Ronaldo was asked if his triumph signalled the end of the "Messi era".
"No, it is not," he told Brazil publication UOL.
"Because Messi and I live in the same era."
Messi and Ronaldo have shared the award five times each over the past 10 years, in what has been a remarkable decade for the beautiful game.

The Portuguese was awarded the prize following a spectacular 2016/17 season, during which he won both the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League.
