Paul Pogba lifted three trophies in his first season at United but many still expected more from the club record signing. After making the Ballon d'Or shortlists between 2014 and 2016, finishing in 14th spot last year, France Football decided to snub him for this year's Golden Ball.
Similarly, his teammate, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was also not selected despite scoring 28 goals and assisting another 10 in his debut season in England.
Another big omission on the 30-man shortlist is Paris Saint-Germain right-back Dani Alves. The Brazilian starred for the Serie A giants Juventus in the UEFA Champions League, helping them to reach the final and lifted two trophies in his one season in Italy.
However, it wasn't enough for France Football's journalists to select him among this year's nominees.
