The president of Al Ahly's rivals Zamalek, Mortada Mansour, has claimed Pitso Mosimane's wife and agent held talks with his club amid his previous contract standoff with the Red Devils.
It was announced last week that the former Mamelodi Sundowns manager extended his contract at Ahly following months of difficult negotiations.
Mosimane's renewal will see him remain at the Red Devils until 2024, though he did acknowledge that the length of the deal means very little should he not continue to win important games and titles.
This weekend, in a shock interview in which he lambasted his players after they were knocked out of the CAF Champions League, Mansour decided he would also bring the Al Ahly boss' name into the discussion.
Mansour boldly claimed that Mosimane's wife had opened talks with Zamalek, but that he told his son, the club's sporting director, to not entertain them out of respect for rival supporters.
"I swear to god Pitso Mosimane's wife (his agent Moira) was negotiating with Amir Mortada last month for him to coach Zamalek," he said, according to KingFut.
"But I told Amir not to do so because I respect Al Ahly's fans."
