Soccer Laduma has it on good authority that Zamalek have reached a decision regarding their reported pursuit of Percy Tau.

The South African attacker is currently a free agent after parting ways with Qatar SC at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. The Bafana Bafana star spent the second half of the season with the Middle Eastern side, having joined them after leaving Al Ahly during the mid-season transfer window.
Prior to his departure from the Egyptian capital, there were suggestions that he could make the switch from Ahly to their arch-rivals Zamalek. Ultimately, the move never materialised, with the Witbank native instead signing for the Doha-based outfit.
Now, reports have resurfaced linking the 2023 CAF Interclubs Player of the Year with a return to the Egyptian capital, with some even claiming that negotiations have taken place between the club’s executives and the player’s representatives. However, Soccer Laduma has been reliably informed that the five-time African champions are not interested in acquiring the forward.
Tau enjoyed a brilliant spell with the Club of the Century, winning two CAF Champions League titles and being named the best Africa-based player in 2023. However, sources close to the North African giants have claimed that the club feels his level has dropped considerably since his first stint in Egypt.
While reports have circulated suggesting that his salary demands could be a stumbling block — which may well be the case — we have been told that the two parties have not even held formal discussions.

Where he ends up remains to be seen, but it appears Zamalek are not in contention to acquire his services.
