African Giants 'Choose' Candidates After Failed Broos Pursuit

Tunisia have now drawn-up a three man candidate list after their failed Hugo Broos pursuit.

After failing to lure Hugo Broos away from the South African national team, an African giant has reportedly identified three new candidates who can lead their nation.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Tunisian national team was actively pursuing the 2024 CAF Coach of the Year nominee since he led Bafana Bafana to an Africa Cup of Nations bronze medal.

Despite courting him for much of 2024, the Carthage Eagles ultimately abandoned their pursuit as they could not meet his demands.

Now, Tunisia is seeking a new manager, with a focus on candidates who have significant national team experience and familiarity with African football.

According to WinWin, one candidate under consideration is Vahid Halilhodzic. The Bosnian previously managed the Moroccan national team and is reportedly open to the challenge of leading the 2004 African champions.

Another candidate is Belgian Marc Wilmots, the former head coach of the Ivory Coast, who also had a stint managing Raja Club Athletic. The final name in contention is Swiss tactician Rene Weiler, a former Al Ahly boss.

The Tunisian Football Federation aims for the next head coach to oversee the national team for the foreseeable future, including leading the side at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and guiding them through their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
