One South African star is among the illustrious list of nominees for the 2019 CAF African Team of the Year.

The CAF awards will take place in Cairo, Egypt on 7 January, when the African Footballer of the Year will also be announced.
CAF are yet to officially unveil the 55-man shortlist for the African Team of the Year, but Soccer Laduma got hold of a copy with all of the nominees.
Percy Tau has made the cut following his superb year overseas that saw him being named Proximus League Player of the Season before making the switch to Club Brugge.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango, who was voted into the CAF Best XI in 2016 and 2018, has once again been nominated as well.
He will face a tough battle from the nine other shortlisted goalkeepers, including Maritzburg United's Richard Ofori and Ajax Amsterdam's Andre Onana.
Africa Cup of Nations champions Algeria have 10 of their winning-team among the nominees, with Riyad Mahrez one of the standout names on the list, which also includes AFCON Player of the Tournament Ismael Bennacer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have their four African stars on the shortlist after lifting the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League trophy.
