SHOCK: Mailula's Boss Implicated In 'Spying' Scandal

The manager of Cassius Mailula's club in the MLS has been implicated in a serious scandal that FIFA is investigating – here is the story.

Canada women's head coach Bev Priestman has been banned from all football-related activities after being found guilty of spying on the New Zealand women's team using a drone at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Two more members of staff have been barred from the sport for 12 months, with FIFA also imposing a $313 000 (R5.7 million) fine on the Canadian FA and levelling a six-point deduction against the team.

On Wednesday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport denied Canada's appeal of the points deduction, but a new development has seemingly implicated Toronto FC manager John Herdman.

The 49-year-old English tactician was in charge of the Canada women's side between 2011 and 2018, during which the team claimed two bronze medals at the Olympics.

Reported by The Canadian Press, Canada's football organisation points the finger at Herdman for first spying on opposition teams using drone technology, as per FIFA documents. Priestman had previously served as a coach under Herdman.

Canada's footballing body reportedly said the strategy was not facilitated by the federation, and is now believed to be supporting a full-scale investigation into the matter to prevent it from happening again.

It is unclear as to whether or not Herdman, who is currently Mailula's head coach at Toronto FC, will face any punishment for his alleged actions.
