The Egyptian juggernauts have officially booked their place in the 2024/25 edition of the Champions League after their victory over Smouha on Thursday in the Egyptian Premier League.
Cape Town native Lakay opened the scoring for the north Africans after he made a surging run past two defenders before slotting the ball past El-Hani Soliman in goal.
It was the Bafana Bafana man's first goal in the Egyptian top flight since a 2-2 draw against Baladiyat El Mahalla in December 2023.

Shortly after assisting Lakay, winger Mostafa Fathi would double the lead for Krunoslav Jurcic's charges as they went into the break with a two-goal advantage. In the second half, Democratic Republic of Congo international Fiston Mayele put the game beyond doubt as he scored his side's third goal as Pyramids made it 10 successive wins in the league.
The Cairo-based outfit are now at the summit of the table with a remarkable 56-point haul, 17 points ahead of their closest rivals Al Masry.
