Qualifiers for football’s biggest tournament are set to resume in a few weeks, and the CAF region is beginning to heat up. So far, no African nation has booked its place for the 2026 World Cup, but that could change after the upcoming September international break.
One team aiming to take control of their group is the Democratic Republic of Congo. Next month, the Leopards face South Sudan and Senegal, and according to Africasoccer.com, they will have the services of West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka for those crucial encounters.
The 27-year-old has long been regarded as one of the Premier League’s standout full-backs since his breakthrough at Crystal Palace, but his international career has remained uncertain. Although born to Congolese parents, Wan-Bissaka represented England at youth level, yet fierce competition for places in his position prevented him from breaking into the Three Lions’ senior squad.

Now, it appears all speculation over his international future has been resolved. The same report claims the defender recently obtained his Congolese passport and will now be eligible for selection by Sebastien Desabre.
