English broadcaster the BBC have announced their 2016 BBC African Footballer of the Year, who replaces last year's winner Yaya Toure.

The BBC announced the five nominees for their prestigious award on 12 November, with fans being allowed to vote for their favourite.
Andre Ayew, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Toure were eliminated from the shortlist earlier today, while Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane remained in the running.
Mahrez has now been announced as the winner of the 2016 BBC African Footballer of the Year award, following his impressive 2015/16 campaign with Leicester City.
The Algerian was voted the 2015/16 PFA Players' Player of the Year after guiding Claudio Ranieri's side to their first ever Premier League title.
Mahrez, who contributed with 17 goals and 10 assists to his side's fairytale campaign, has now become the second Algerian star to lift the African award in three years,

His compatriot Yacine Brahimi won the individual prize in 2014, while Toure was named the BBC African Footballer of the Year in 2013 and 2015.
