8 All-Time Great Foreign Stars For Al Ahly

8 All-Time Great Foreign Stars For Al Ahly

With Percy Tau's future at Al Ahly increasingly in doubt, here are eight foreigners who had successful stints at the Club of the Century over the course of its history.

Click through the gallery above to see who some of the greatest non-Egyptian players who have played for Al Ahly are!

The South African forward made his way to the Egyptian capital fresh from his Premier League adventure with Brighton Hove Albion in January 2021. While Tau started brightly under his compatriot Pitso Mosimane at the Red Devils, his form has dipped in recent months.

Another foreigner, Tau's current teammate Aliou Dieng, has arguably fared better. Since joining from MC Alger in 2019, the Mali international has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the record African champions.

In his three-year tenure with Al Ahly to date, the 24-year-old has already captured two CAF Champions League winner's medals and finished third at the FIFA Club World Cup twice.

Add that to his Egyptian Premier League, Egyptian Cup and Egyptian Super Cup titles, and Dieng is one of the most decorated foreigners to have graced Al Salaam Stadium.

Zamalek Crowned Champions Of Egypt

Another player who enjoyed tremendous success during his time in north Africa is Angolan striker Flavio. According to Transfermarkt, the Luanda native was a serial goalscorer for Egypt's most successful side, finding the back of the net 58 times in 160 appearances for the club.

The former Angola international also won multiple titles while in Cairo, including three CAF Champions League titles and four league winner's medals. He also finished as top goalscorer of the EPL on two occasions.

Another prolific striker for Al Ahly was Felix Aboagye. The Ghanaian enjoyed five years with the 42-time champions of Egypt between 1993 and 1998 before leaving for Greek club Olympiacos.

The west African, who is believed to have scored more than 40 goals for the Club of the Century, is also considered to be one of the greatest foreigners to have adorned the famous red of Al Ahly.
