Bafana Rival Watch: Benin Silence Zimbabwe

Benin 1-0 Zimbabwe

Benin kept their 2026 FIFA World Cup dream alive after defeating Zimbabwe 1-0 on Friday evening.

Steve Mounie grabbed the game's only goal on 77 minutes after being set up by Yohan Roche.

The win takes Benin up to second spot in Group C, five points adrift of South Africa.

Kenya 1-3 Gambia

Benni McCarthy's Kenya had a day to forget after losing 3-1 to Gambia at the Moi International Sports Centre.

The visitors raced into a three-goal lead in the first half thanks to strikes from Sheriff Sinyan, Yankuba Minteh and Musa Barrow.

Ryan Ogam did manage to pull a goal back for the Harambee Stars on 81 minutes but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

Namibia 1-2 Malawi

Namibia's World Cup hopes suffered a blow after losing 2-1 to Malawi in Group H on Friday evening.

Richard Mbulu and Gabadinho Mhango found the back of the net for Malawi, who find themselves in fifth spot in the group.

David Ndeunyema netted the consolation for the home side, who now sit seven points behind group leaders Tunisia.

Uganda 4-0 Mozambique

Uganda kept their qualification hopes alive with a 4-0 thrashing of Mozambique on Friday night.

Allan Okello broke the deadlock for the Cranes five minutes before the halftime break.

The host took over in the second period, with Rogers Mato bagging a brace while Elio Capradossi netted the fourth goal on the night.
