In Fan Park's final instalment of where the big three like to do their player shopping, we take a look at which clubs Orlando Pirates most frequently buy from.
Here are the five teams Pirates have shopped at the most in the past 10 years:
5. Black Leopards
Khetowakhe Masuku recently left the Bucs, but he is one of five players who have been snapped up by the club from Black Leopards. The others were Siphamandla Sangweni, Rudzani Reuben, Mulondo Sikhwivhilu and Tebogo Mashaba.
4. Bidvest Wits
Ironically, Moeneeb Josephs left Bidvest Wits to join Pirates and is now back at the Clever Boys. The shot-stopper is one of five players who left the Students for Pirates and three of them are still currently playing for the Sea Robbers – Sifiso Myeni, Patrick Phungwayo and Lehlogonolo Masalesa. Thando Mdluli also left Wits for a stint at Mayfair.
3. Free State Stars
Thulasizwe Mbuyane was the first player to leave Free State Stars for Bucs in the past 10 years, moving in 2008. Ruben Cloete, Manti Moholo, Mpho Makola, Ayanda Gcaba and Thabo Matlaba all followed suit, with the last three still currently on Pirates' book.
2. Bloemfontein Celtic
A total of eight players have left the quiet town of Bloemfontein to join Pirates. Lennox Bacela, Patrick Malokase, Mark Mayambela, Jacky Motshegwa, Lehlohonolo Seema, Jorry Merahe, Lebogang Mothibantwa and Mzondi Mthombeni all made the move from the City of Roses. None of these players are with the Buccaneers today, though, with Bacela the last of them to leave – he departed in July.
1. SuperSport United
Incredibly, 13 players have left Pretoria in order to ply their trade in Soweto for Orlando Pirates. Names like Daine Klate, Jabu Mahlangu and Teko Modise were all fan favourites of the team, while we cannot forget Kermit Erasmus and Edwin Gyimah, who are still at the club. Others who joined from United were Tony Coyle, Thandani Ntshumayelo, Dennis Masina, Jacob Mokhasi, Cavann Sibeko, Tico-Tico, Themba Mnguni and Katlego Mashego.
