Bernard Parker may be on a bit of goal scoring drought lately but there is hope that this could all come to an end when he faces Pirates in the Soweto derby tomorrow. It’s time to break those Soweto bones!!
Here is why Parker will be the man that will silence our noisy neighbours!
Pirates Is One Of His Favourite Targets
Parker is not called ‘Hond’ for no reason. He knows how to sniff around the box for goals and he has scored an impressive three goals in his Soweto derby encounters. Outside of that, he has also raked in three assists, leaving him with a scoring and assist ratio of one every second game.
Parker Versus Majoro
Majoro may have served Chiefs well in the derby, but this will be Chiefs’ home fixture and the crowd will not make him feel at home. He left the club, and ever since his move to Parktown, he has failed to find the back of the net in a derby for Pirates.
Better Ball Feeders
There is simply no contest when it comes to Chiefs and Pirates’ midfield. The Amakhosi win hands down in this department. With the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala (who is the derby’s highest scorer in recent times), George Lebese and George Maluleka, as well as Willard Katsande, we have better men in charge of providing assists for Parker than what Pirates have for Mojoro or Kermit Erasmus.
Big Match Temperament
If anyone knows how to come to the party it is Parker. He has often slipped off the radar, but when it comes to the crunch matches, he has always risen to the occasion. This will certainly be a winning factor for Chiefs tomorrow.
Khosi fans, do you agree with this sentiment? Will Parker be the man that will shoot down Pirates?
