In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, it was revealed that Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould may not have his contract extended when it expires in 2016 - with Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United monitoring the situation.
However, with Mamelodi Sundowns needing to replace Alje Schut when he leaves Chloorkop at the end of the season, should Downs monitor the situation as well?
Let’s take a look at three reasons why Gould would be the perfect replacement for Schut.
He Has The Experience
Gould has been around for quite some time now, after having relatively long spells with Jomo Cosmos, SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs. Schut, because of his experience abroad, has been one of the most important players for Downs in the last couple of seasons. Gould's experience can be of real value.
Gould Can Match Schut’s Physicality
This is one quality both defenders share, as they are indeed some of the toughest defenders in the PSL. Gould is known to be a defender who does not give strikers an inch to turn, this is also something Schut does ever so well.
He Still Has Much To Offer
With Eric Mathoho and Tefu Mashamaite being in fine form, and in the process relegating Gould to the bench at Chiefs, Gould may feel that he needs to prove something. Downs is a big club and should this opportunity surface for the player, it would be the ideal chance to showcase his ability on a regular basis.
Do you think Downs should sign Gould?
