The Fan Park Crew decided to take a look at five of the best playmakers in Europe at the moment, with a few star names making the game that much better to watch.
The Barcelona superstar brings more than goals to the table, as this season the number 10 has assisted 25 times for the Catalan club. Any manager would be happy with 25 assists from a player in a season, but Messi improves that by adding a tremendous amount of his own goals to the overall total too.
Although his stats don’t jump out at you, he has been one of Liverpool’s key men this season. He’s tricky on the ball, deceivingly quick, and can pick a pass that not even the fans in the top tier of the stadium saw coming. This season, he’s assisted five and scored five.
The Spain international is one of those players who nobody can get sick of watching play. The 29-year-old has scored 11 goals this season for Manchester City, and has assisted a further eight. He’s short and doesn’t appear strong, but his feet make it almost impossible for defenders to steal the ball.
The Spaniard is probably one of the most talented youngsters in Spain at the moment, and his move from Malaga to Real Madrid had fans licking their lips. His touch is class, his elegance is supreme and he continues to shine behind Real’s front three. This season he’s assisted 13 times and scored five goals.
The Arsenal midfielder has been a much better player for Arsenal this season, where he has assisted 12 goals and scored a further eight. His ability to knock the ball around with both feet makes him a difficult opponent to read, and this is why he’s one of the best playmakers in football today.
Can you name any other top playmakers in Europe at the moment?
