Three Reasons Why Zungu Is The Real Deal

Not many young players at Chloorkop stand the chance of really standing out in an environment where competition for first team football is ruthless. That has not been the case for midfielder Bongani Zungu, as in the last couple of seasons, he has been one of the best players at the club.

Not many expected Ben10 to become an integral part of coach Pitso Mosimane’s plans in his first year at the club. Last season, when played in a number 10 role, Zungu was one of three players in a deadly attacking combo comprising of Teko Modise and Lebohang Mokoena

This season, when played in a deeper role, he forms part of a solid pairing next to Hlompho Kekana in the middle of the park, with Modise playing as a free roaming number 10 just ahead of the two at times.

We’ll now take a look at three reasons as to why Zungu is the real deal.

He Has A Strong Mentality

Whenever Zungu is given the chance to play, even if it’s a role off the bench, he rarely disappoints. That I feel is a hallmark of a player with a great mentality.

Not A One Hit Wonder

If Zungu’s performances in a Downs shirt did not convince you last season, then his showings this time around should surely have done. Every time he has been given an opportunity, he has performed for Downs this season.

Versatility Makes Him An Asset

What makes him a fantastic footballer is that at the age of 22, he can adapt to more than one position with consummate ease. He looks the part when played as a number 10, maestro or even a hardman if you like.

Do you feel that in terms of midfielders in this country, Zungu is the real deal?
