It proved to be a night to forget for Mamelodi Sundowns, as they were thrashed 5-0 by Bloemfontein Celtic. Are the Brazilian's title hopes over?
The tone of the night was set in the first minute when Celtic pounced on an error from Denis Onyango, who was later shown a straight red card for a studs up challenge on Lerato Lamola.
Sadly Pitso Mosimane's side had no answer for the men from Bloemfontein, who managed to add another four goals, and now remain 13 points behind leaders, Kaizer Chiefs.
Another thing that was hard for Sundowns fans to take, was seeing Musa Nyatama scoring a brace against his parent club. Maybe we should stop allowing our loan players to play against us.
The Players Who Impressed:
Hlompho Kekana - Despite the hammering the Brazilians received, Kekana showed some fight, most notably in the first half with a few efforts from distance.
Teko Modise - Although Sundowns failed to create chances, the Sundowns talisman still managed to keep things ticking and helped his side keep possession of the ball.
Mzikayise Mashaba - The left full-back was another player who soldiered on despite the heavy scoreline and always looked to get forward.
The Three Who Disappointed:
Ramahlwe Mphahlele - Possibly one of his worst games in a long time and it was his mis-placed pass that led to Celtic's first goal.
Denis Onyango - Despite the red card in the first half, the Ugandan didn't cover himself in glory, as his error led to Lerato Lamola finishing into an empty net.
Alje Schut - the Skipper made one good block in the first half but that did not make up for his bad positioning, especially for Celtic's second goal and he looked shaky throughout the game.
