Chiefs In Hot Water With The PSL Again

Chiefs In Hot Water With The PSL Again

Nasreddine Nabi and Kaizer Motaung Junior.

As if dealing with a 4-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns is not enough, Kaizer Chiefs are facing the wrath of the PSL for the unruly behaviour of supporters at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Having already been fined this season after a 2-1 defeat to Sundowns in the Betway Premiership, where supporters threw objects onto the field in frustration over the decisions of referees, Chiefs are in for more punishment after their followers repeated the same behaviour in the Carling Knockout against the same team over the weekend.

Not only did the supporters throw objects onto the field, but there were a few who ran onto the field in an attempt to get to referee Luxolo Badi.

This season, Chiefs were fined R100 000 for the behaviour of fans in the 2-1 defeat to Sundowns in the league in September, R50 000 of which was suspended on the condition that they are not found guilty of the same offence until the end of the season.

Amakhosi were found guilty for similar offences on three occasions last season and, as result, a suspended fine of R100,000 was activated. In total, after the incident in September, Chiefs had to pay R150 000, to go with the additional costs of the sitting.

They are likely to be fined again, with the suspended fee of R50 000 set to be activated, as well as the costs of the upcoming sitting.

Marketing director Jessica Motaung has previously pleaded with supporters not to throw objects onto the field because of the impact it has on the club, but that has fallen on deaf ears.

The club faces more trouble should results not improve, as supporters have shown that they are not concerned with the club constantly paying fines for their behaviour.
