In This Week’s Edition Of Soccer Laduma

In anticipation of this week's 1398th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet on Thursday, 31st October 2024.

CARLING KNOCKOUT PREVIEW

This weekend, the Carling Knockout reaches the quarter-final stage of its second edition. Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs will face each other in the round's headline match. We also have Richards Bay hosting a Cape Town City side, whose coach Eric Tinkler has spoken about wanting silverware this season. Then, we have top flight new boys Magesi FC playing host to last season's runners-up in the Carling Knockout in TS Galaxy. The final fixture sees holders Stellenbosch FC travel to Marumo Gallants just three days after hosting the same opponents in the league at Cape Town Stadium. We look at the key battles for each tie, the form guide of the clubs and the crucial tactical talking points!

SIYA SPECIAL

The next SAFA elections are two years away, but the main question uppermost on the lips of many observers is who will become the organisation's next president. Incumbent president Danny Jordaan has publicly announced that it will be his last. However, this publication has been informed that as regional elections are pencilled for next year, a precursor to the general elections the year after, it appears that Jordaan is eyeing a record fourth term, which brings into sharp focus the issue of an ambitious succession plan within SAFA. We break down the issues within a once powerful and envied football organisation across the continent.

TASHREEQ MORRIS

After spending a few months without a club, Tashreeq Morris has made a return to top flight football by signing a deal with SuperSport United. Morris did not take time to make an impact, scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership last weekend. Having signed a contract until the end of the season, the 30-year-old striker has a lot to do in the coming months to convince the Tshwane outfit to extend his stay, but he is more than ready for the challenge. Soccer Laduma spoke to the former Ajax Cape Town forward recently to talk about signing for SuperSport and why it was a relief for him to leave Sekhukhune.

Also In Issue 1398…

Keagan Allan

A goal on debut for Richards Bay defender Keagan Allan, which helped his new club collect all three points against TS Galaxy, was the dream the 24-year-old had this season. The Natal Rich Boyz didn't think twice when the centre-back became available on the market in July, following a stint with SuperSport United. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, Allan reveals how he was attracted to the KwaZulu-Natal outfit, his experience working with Truter, and the team's plans for the season after they faced the threat of relegation in the previous campaign.

International Feature

When Kylian Mbappe's transfer, one of the worst-kept football secrets in recent times, was officially announced by Real Madrid earlier this year, imaginations understandably ran wild! The prospect of one of the world's most elite players gracing the field under the lights of the Santiago Bernabeu, wowing those Los Blancos supporters in attendance – how could this not work? His goal contributions suggest the France captain is doing just fine, but to any observer, Mbappe looks troubled and lost.

Revolving Column

This week we hear from former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Alex Bapela on Rulani Mokwena's time in Morocco so far.

Siyagobhoza

In this week's edition of the popular Siyagobhoza section, there is news on Sundowns remaining patient with Themba Zwane, Chiefs and Pirates vying for a wonderkid's signature, and Nkosinathi Sibisi looking good for a Bucs extension.
