The South African Beach Soccer tournament in Durban, held by Power Horse, was a great success, and it is only the start of bettering the sport in Mzansi.
The three-day tournament took place in front of 10 000 fans, who bore witness to the best of what beach football has to offer.
The crowd celebrated Senegal’s Teranga Sand Lions, who won 5-4 in an exciting final against Côte d’Ivoire. Host nation South Africa came fourth, going down to favourites Nigeria 3-9 in the bronze medal game.
Also Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique and the Seychelles used the stage to show their skills and prepare for the upcoming FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup's 2015 African Qualifiers in April.
The tournament was a perfect launch pad to help encourage and the develop the growth of beach soccer, and in order to ensure that the passion remains in South Africa.
