The Stuttgart native has been out of football management since leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.

The 57-year-old was in charge of the Reds for nine years, and cited exhaustion as the reason for his departure from Anfield.

Since leaving Merseyside, Klopp has been linked with many jobs, the latest of which is that of Die Mannschaft.

German Football Association sporting director Rudi Voller was recently asked if he would like the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss to succeed Julian Nagelsmann after the next FIFA World Cup should the latter decide to return to club football, and he said 'yes'.

However, while the legendary former striker may be keen on Klopp leading the four-time world champions, the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League-winning tactician does not seem as eager to take up the role.

"Everyone hopes that Julian Nagelsmann will do this much, much longer than 2026," Klopp said, as per 90min.

"I would be reluctant to talk about football today because there is nothing to say.

"Rudi Voller is a very nice guy. He was put in the situation where he had to talk about it."

The previous time Klopp was unemployed was when he left Signal Iduna Park in 2015. There were three months between his exit from Dortmund and his employment with the six-time European champions, so it remains to be seen how much time he takes off in this latest instance.
