Fan Park has launched a new feature where the crew looks at the winners, the losers, the biggest topic of discussions and the ‘who said what’ that occurred across the weekend.
Every Monday, we will look at what has been creating the headlines across the league and clubs in South Africa.
Winners – Mamelodi Sundowns
With Kaizer Chiefs having seemingly struggled with a New Year hangover, Sundowns have pounced on their improving form and have managed to clinch the Q3 title. With 19 points out of this quarter, the Brazilians have certainly dominated proceedings.
Losers – Kaizer Chiefs
With a second successive defeat in the bag for Kaizer Chiefs, they take this title for having failed to mirror the form they experienced in the first half of the season. Also, with one token goal in 2015, the club has to be worried about their recent slump.
Topic Of Discussion – Will The Foreigners Play For Bafana?
With Shakes Mashaba set to announce his squad for the friendly match against Nigeria later this month; the biggest topic of discussion is whether or not he will call on the previously suspended Thulani Serero and May Mahlangu? Do they deserve a call-up?
The Unbeaten Run – Orlando Pirates (12)
It is 12 games and counting for Orlando Pirates. With the team currently on its longest unbeaten run since the treble winning season, the Buccaneers have something to be proud about. Will there be a team to break this run?
They Said What? - Mosimane Credits Referees
Usually infamous for blasting the referees in the league, Pitso Mosimane was actually heard crediting a match official after Downs’ beat TP Mazembe. Who would’ve thought?
Mosimane said: “He credit should to the referee. He was brave. He did a good job. I hope he will do the same when the play away. He gave the players yellow cards and I think he did well. The game is changing and the referees are good.”
What do you make of this?
