Yesterday marked the final day of the PSL transfer window, and it was mayhem up until the very last minute. But there were some deals that failed to reach completion. Can you guess which ones?
Many clubs were scrambling up until the final moments to secure a solid roster of players for the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season, but some teams weren't so lucky in landing the player they were hoping for.
Today, we take a look at four deadline day deals that never happened.
Jabulani Shongwe to Kaizer Chiefs
It was reported on Wednesday that Kaizer Chiefs had made a deal with Bidvest Wits to secure the transfer of Jabulani Shongwe. The midfielder would have been a great addition to the team, but talks fell through and he was forced to remain at Milpark.
Rheece Evans to Cape Town City
The defender has struggled for game time at Mamelodi Sundowns, and has long been deemed surplus to requirements at Chloorkop, but it has been difficult for him to land himself a new club. His steep wages are expected to be the biggest problem, and that is what prevented him from signing for Ajax Cape Town last term. Late last night, it was confirmed that he would not be joining Cape Town City as Evans wanted a year-long loan, while Downs could only agree to half a year.
Thapelo Morena to Golden Arrows
Reports claimed that the new Downs signing was all set to join Golden Arrows on loan; however, no pen was put to paper in the final hours of the day.
Phala/Masango swap between SuperSport United and Randers
According to the Siya Crew, SuperSport were close to pulling off an unexpected last-minute deal for Denmark-based Mandla Masango, which would have seen Thuso Phala go the other way. It has been said that there wasn't enough time for the deal to go through.
Which deal would you have liked to have seen materialise?
