With the 2014/15 Absa Premiership now done and dusted, many of the clubs will start pondering over how to better their respective squads, and a lot will boil down to the coach's plans.
While it may be too early to state what could happen by August, there are some possibilities that may unravel between now and then in regard to the future of certain coaches in the PSL.
Here are some changes that could take place…
Chippa United - Velile Dyaloyi
With Chippa Mpengesi famous for his chopping and changing of coaches quicker than Victor Gomes dishing out red cards, one can expect Dyaloyi to be given the boot ahead of next season as the club looks to appoint a proven coach. There is nothing wrong with Dyaloyi, but if history is anything to go by, he may be fired and rehired before the 2015/16 season starts.
Orlando Pirates – Eric Tinkler
Despite having led the club to a fourth place finish, and into the third round of the CAF Confederation Cup, Tinkler’s future is still in doubt as the fans don’t seem convinced by him. It seems sad given how the coach turned things around, but it is also probable that Dr Irvin Khoza may opt to hire a coach that connects with the fans.
Kaizer Chiefs – Stuart Baxter
While it almost seems ridiculous that Kaizer Chiefs would let go of a title-winning coach, but it has been reported that Baxter may leave the club in order to make a move either to Europe or to Al Ahly in Egypt. With the Englishman having not stayed put in one place for more than three years, his past doesn’t bode well for Chiefs fans.
Maritzburg United – Steve Komphela
With the coach being head-hunted by a number of top clubs across the country, Komphela may very well be prized away by a PSL giant should they be in need of a new tactician. Perhaps a destination like Chiefs or Pirates could tempt the philosophical coach to leave KwaZulu-Natal.
What other teams do you think will see coaching changes ahead of next season?
