Today, the Fan Park Crew takes a look at players that are desperately wanted back by their old clubs. The players that have been chosen are ones that have left a huge void after leaving - which still hasn’t been filled.
Xabi Alonso – Liverpool
Alonso is the type of player that can fit in any environment and was crucial for the Reds a few seasons back. In 2009 the Spaniard and Steven Gerrard formed a formidable midfield partnership, but he left for Real Madrid after spending five years at the club.
Frank Lampard - Chelsea
A true Chelsea legend and the club's all-time leading goal scorer made a shock loan move to Manchester City in the last days of last summer transfer window, after announcing that he was going to play his football in the MLS. Chelsea are currently leading the Premier League table, but have had a few slip ups in the second part of the season - a time when Lampard's experience could have proven crucial.
Robert Lewandowski - Borussia Dortmund
The Polish striker was brilliant at Borussia Dortmund, scoring 74 goals in 174 appearances for the Black and Yellows. After a successful four years at the club, Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich. The club has struggled since he left, and also hasn’t been able to find a replacement with his goal scoring ability.
Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United
Ronaldo is still loved and adored by the Manchester United supporters and his skill and tricky was never replaced after they sold him. The club is fighting for a place in the top four at the moment, but many supporters feel his presence will help get them back into a position where they can challenge for titles instead.
