Some players tend to peak when they play in a team that doesn’t have a list of several stars, while others shine on any stage. However, there are also players who don’t quite peak when they’re expected to. The Fan Park lists five players who managers may have regretted signing or selling.
Kevin De Bruyne – Chelsea To Wolfsburg
The Belgian midfielder was sold by Jose Mourinho last summer, and has been somewhat of a revelation for German side Wolfsburg. Perhaps he was shifted out as there were other big-name players ahead of him in the queue, but had he been given a proper opportunity at Stamford Bridge, he might have been even more effective than Oscar or Willian. De Bruyne has scored 14 goals this season, while he’s assisted 24 times!
David Luiz – Chelsea To PSG
The Brazilian was sold by Jose Mourinho last season, but came back to haunt his former teammates when he scored one of PSG’s away goals that knocked the Blues out of the Champions League. He has become one of the French clubs most important players, scoring five goals and assisting one.
Mario Balotelli – AC Milan To Liverpool
The Liverpool striker has been in poor form the entire season at the Merseyside club, and it’s perhaps a shame that he was sold by AC Milan, where his goals-scoring ratio was much greater. The Italian has never quite adjusted to life in England, and has a poor return of four goals in 25 games.
Luke Shaw – Southampton To Manchester United
I feel as though the young left-back made his move too soon when Louis Van Gaal brought him to Manchester United. Of course, he is an extremely talented player, but perhaps another good season at Southampton would have justified his move. He has been riddled with injury at United, only playing 13 Premier League games this season.
Danny Welbeck – Manchester United to Arsenal
The England international was given his big break when he left the Red Devils for more game time, but he has failed to find any sort of consistent form for the Gunners. Arsene Wenger may regret going after the forward, as he has only scored eight goals in 33 games this season.
