Biyela Responds To Truter Exit Reports

Richards Bay FC chairman Sfiso Jomo Biyela speaks to the supporters and his players during the DStv Premiership 2023/24 football match between Richards Bay and Stellenbosch FC at King Zwelithini Stadium on 25 May 2024

Richards Bay FC chairman Sifiso 'Jomo' Biyela has provided an important update on the team's head coach Brandon Truter amid reports of a potential exit.

In recent weeks, Truter has been under pressure due to Richards Bay's slow start to the season due to disappointing results, with reports indicating that the Cape Town-born mentor could be on his way out.

The Natal Rich Boyz are sitting in 12th spot on the Betway Premiership standings with five points from one win and two draws in their seven matches so far.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit lost to Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup semi-finals in their last match before the FIFA international break.

Speaking during the National Soccer League's Quadrennial General Meeting held in Johannesburg on Wednesday, Biyela said Truter remains in charge of the team.

"Football is an emotional sport; you react in whatever way that you react at that particular moment. There's nothing, there's no bad blood between myself and the coach. As we are speaking here, he is training the team today in Richards Bay, he's still part of the team," said Biyela, speaking to the media.

"I've seen all what you guys are saying about him being fired, I can tell you that he is still part of the team. Obviously, we'll try and find ways of improving in areas where we feel that we are not doing right but we are not in the business of chopping and changing," the chairman said.
