Jose Mourinho has made a call for tactical breaks in football matches and I hate the idea.
“I hope I am still in football when they give the coach the chance to stop the game during the first-half and during the second-half because you can make the game much better,” he said to the Daily Mirror this morning.
I think it would be nice if our team were able to regroup and be given orders from the coach at crucial points of games, where tactical consistency can prove useful, but I just think it would be unnecessary.
It would add extra stoppages in the game, it would be boring for viewers and it is unnecessary, considering that coaches have all week to prepare for an opponent, two hours before the game to learn the identity of the starting XI and 15 minutes in between halves to implement changes.
If our master tactician wants to make changes mid-game, he must just do it like everybody else, by making substitutions and shouting orders from the touchline. This is not the NFL!
