The term goes, “we have all seen this movie before”, and in the race for the Absa Premiership title, coach Pitso Mosimane and co could well see part two take place this season.
In all honesty, I do feel that the script, up until now, looks to be very much similar to that of last season. Last year, Kaizer Chiefs were comfortable being called champions elect at this point and they are once again welcoming those sentiments as sit at the summit of the league table.
The reality is that what happened last season has every chance of occurring again, and it would be unwise to rule out that possibility.
Should we win our next game in hand, we would only be seven points behind Chiefs with 10 games to go in the league, and that in itself is something that should worry Amakhosi.
The Amakhosi have been dropping points lately, and slowly but surely there seems to be more negativity starting to creep in - and if Chiefs are not careful enough, a retake of last season’s title run-in may be on the box office.
Sundowns have every right to feel optimistic about winning their seventh PSL league trophy, and Mosimane is now at a stage where all he cares about is points, not pretty football.
He was quoted as saying, “we know how to play dirty” after grinding out a 1-0 win over bottom of the log AmaZulu in the league last night, and this is an indication of Jingles' desire to win at all costs.
Masandawana, get the popcorn ready as this is a movie we have seen before!
