In the Fan Park Crew’s Hot Seat feature for Monday, we will look at the winners, the biggest losers, the biggest topic of discussion, as well as the ‘who said what’ from this weekend’s fixtures in Europe.
Winners – Manchester United
Sunday was Manchester United’s chance to shut up their noisy neighbours Manchester City, and they managed to do just that. The win was important, as United had gone four derbies without a win, and because Louis Van Gaal’s men now sit four points above Manuel Pellegrini’s team.
Losers – Manchester City
City are our biggest losers this week, as they failed to gain ground on the Red Devils and Arsenal, and lost their fourth away game in a row. The Citizens have looked a shadow of their former selves, as the pressure on Pellegrini’s shoulders continues to grow.
Topics Of Discussion – Real Close In On Barca
This weekend we saw Real Madrid cut the four point lead that Barcelona had over them at the top of La Liga to just two points. With just seven games to go, everything is still up in the air as Los Blancos have been in sensational form in their last few matches.
Who Said What – Vincent Kompany
The Belgian admitted in an interview with the Daily Mirror that Manchester United were keen on his services when he was just 17-years-old, but never made the move because his mother told him not to.
“United asked about me, but I had other priorities at the time. I was studying for my A-levels and my mother made me finish my education before I could concentrate on football.”
Player Who Needs Improving – Yaya Toure
The Ivorian has been in poor form for City since the turn of the year, with fans and pundit’s alike suggesting that his time is up. Toure has only contributed one goal in his last six league games, and has failed to provide any assists.
