The UEFA European Championships are set to take place next year, and the Fan Park Crew decided to look at the nations that will arrive as possible favourites.
With the players at their disposal, it would be silly to disregard them as one of the strongest teams heading into the tournament. He might not be a Juventus player come the end of the season, but Paul Pogba will certainly be one of France’s leading men at the Euros. Let’s not forget Karim Benzema and Antoine Griezmann – two players who perform consistently for their club sides. In defence they have arguably two of the brightest young talents in Kurt Zouma and Raphael Varane, as well as experience in Yohan Cabaye and Blaise Matuidi.
The German team are of course contenders for the competition, as they enter the tournament as world champions following their triumph at the 2014 World Cup. Joachim Low’s team have the perfect balance, with star players in almost every position. With the likes of Mario Gotze, Marco Reus, Mesut Özil and Bastian Schweinsteiger in midfield, it’s hard to think of a team that could better that. They also have last year’s Ballon d’Or finalist in goals, Manuel Neuer.
Spain have won the last two Euro competitions – in 2008 and in 2012, while in between that they won the 2010 World Cup. Despite looking average in the last World Cup, they’ll surely regroup and have an incredibly strong side come next year. With Isco having a great season at Real Madrid, it’ll be hard for Vicente del Bosque to leave him out. There’s no doubt that we’ll see a lot of the same faces, but the boss will be aware that he needs to freshen the team up.
There are also other teams like Italy and England, however, we don’t believe that they will be at a level to compete with the three above.
Belgium are another team that look strong, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Kevin Bruyne - who are currently in the forms of their lives.
Who do you believe will win Euro 2016?
