The Fan Park Crew takes a look at five Premier League players that have been on the decline since last season. This decline could be due to many factors such as injury, performance or even personal issues on and off the field.
Here is our selection:
The former Chelsea striker made his loan deal at Everton permanent at the start of this season, but with that, he hasn’t been able to bring the same promise he showed in the last campaign. Everton have had a tough season so far, with Lukaku scoring only seven goals in 25 league appearances for the club.
The big Belgian's name was on everyone’s lips at this time last season, but it’s amazing how things have changed. He was tipped to leave Aston Villa for a bigger club after the Word Cup but Villa managed to hold on. The club is currently flirting with the relegation zone, and they have hardly had their big striker on the park due to injury and poor form.
Ramsey has failed to replicate his form from last season and has struggled with injuries yet again. Arsenal’s standout player in the last campaign found himself on the scoresheet regularly, but not this time around - and it’s fair to say his only been a shadow of his former self in 2014/15. The player has been injured again recently and it seems he will be side lined for a further few weeks.
After coming so close to lifting the Premier League title last season, Gerrard has struggled to replicate the same form. Gerrard is getting older and is now struggling to keep up with the pace of the Premier League. He has found himself on the bench a few times this season and that’s purely because of his decline in form. He will be leaving Liverpool for the United States at the end of the season, where he will join LA Galaxy.
Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has been poor since returning from the World Cup, and even half way into the season things haven’t improved much. Van Persie seems to have lost some pace and is struggling with his first touch. Last season the Red Devils didn’t have a campaign to remember, but when Robin played he still scored goals. This season, he seems to just be a passenger.
